• Must be committed to spending at least 15hrs / week in-studio, as well as being present for Open Studio hours on Saturdays, from 10am - 1pm.

  • As the studio space is situated in the center of downtown, artists should expect a level of interaction with the public.

  • Social Media presence is highly encouraged; The Switchboard will spotlight the Artist in Residence at least once/ week on Instagram and Facebook


  • $1,000 for a 4-week residency; $650 for a 2-week residency. Up to two (2) artists may share a residency at one time.

  • The Switchboard is actively pursuing scholarship funding from various sources, to be made available to qualifying artists, living or working in the Merrimack Valley. Please indicate on your application if you are interested in hearing about available funding.

  • Work-study opportunities are available to help offset residency fees. Artists who take advantage of this option will assist with various, art-related projects at The Switchboard such as installation assistance for our rotating exhibitions, upkeep of the studio space, and relevant help with our on-going programming.
